Stickman Street Art Installation Santa Fe New Mexico.

We first noticed Stickman in front of the old Witney Museum in New York around 2009.  Since then we have spotted his tiny figures all across America.

He is by far one of the most prolific street installation artists in North America installing work for over 20 years.  That pre-dates the popularization of the term Street Art.  His work is rarely mentioned because you have to have an eye for hidden detail and travel a lot to really appreciate the scope of his placement.

RAINBOW WARRIOR – Sightings in Guatemala

Wednesday, January 22nd, 2014

We asked our friend Sarah Sexton to do a short write up about the Rainbow Warrior phenomenon.  Here is what she had to say:

“Recently I traveled to the tantalizing lands of Guatemala for a quick backpacking stint around the country, where I enjoyed a plethora of stunning views, all the adventure one could handle, and a few belly aches to round it out.

While traveling I got blessed up by some friendly locals that were stoked to highlight the graffiti art of their cities, featuring tons of poppin’ artists such as DESTR and SPAINT. But I became straight up giddy when we happen to stumble upon the work of U.S. graffiti artist & all around hooligan, The Rainbow Warrior.

Found on the sweet streets of San Pedro, a tiny town that rests on the mesmerizing Lake Atitlán and is nestled between a horde of volcanoes (yes, its as dope as it sounds), we found a single rainbow dripping from the roof of a village hostel.

If you aren’t familiar with their work, The Rainbow Warrior was rightfully named due to the dozens of rainbow drips carefully placed around the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico that quickly became a state wide sensation. Soon these lil dollops of sunshine began finding homes in other towns around the U.S. (with a bit of footwork you can even find one on Market St. in San Francisco) which prompted graffiti enthusiasts to wonder when they might start popping up around the world.

Now that we know they’re there, albeit pretty freakin’ hidden, it’s simply up to us to find, photograph, and share them with the world. So for all you adventure junkies & graffiti hunters out there, you have your mark, now ready. set. go.”

Sarah Sexton is the owner and creative coordinator for Oaktown Indie Mayhem Productions, based out of Oakland, California.
