P.T.V. a Group Exhibition

Thursday, June 6th, 2019

Opening Reception: June 7th, 6 – 10pm at Classic Cars West in Oakland, CA

On view: June 7 – 29, 2019

Spoke Art presents P.T.V. – a group exhibition featuring members of
the Bay Area graffiti crew Punks Thugs and Vandals. Including a diverse array of artistic styles,
inspirations and backgrounds, the crew’s distinctive characters are familiar to Oakland and
San Francisco locals, international travelers and beyond.
Starting in 2007, following a San Francisco Department of Public works press conference
proclaiming “It is currently up to the Punks, Thugs and Vandals what artwork goes up in the
city,” a group of friends began writing the moniker as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the city’s
stance on street art. Known for their characters and collaborative pieces, the members of P.T.V.
blend styles and genres to find commonality between “punk, hiphop, ska, reggae and taking
that same recipe into graffiti, politics and fine art.”
PTV characters can be spotted close to home in Oakland and across the US and
internationally in South America, South East Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Please come out Friday, June 7th from 6 – 10pm for the opening reception of P.T.V. Spoke Art will also
be releasing a new limited edition screen print and enamel pin by GATS available first for
attendees of the opening. For more information, or additional images, please email

RECKONING – A Group Show About Catastrophe – 9/28/2012

Friday, September 28th, 2012

Reckoning at 1am SF Gallery.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – 1AM is pleased to present “Reckoning”, a group exhibition reflecting society’s obsession with catastrophe, both imagined and real. The collection includes original art by Leon Loucheur, Optimist, Robert Bowen, Pemex, Monty Guy and Chamber Made. Drawing from a wide array of disciplines and cultural influences, these six artists expose a darkening horizon, commenting on the ruinous, self-destructive capacity of human societies. The opening reception is on September 28th from 6:30-9:30pm and is on view through October 27th.

“Reckoning” will feature works that incorporate a variety of styles and techniques, blending highly rendered realism with abstract painting, collage, urban and graphic influences to build mood and dynamic into the narrative of the composition. With graffiti and street art backgrounds, these artists will surprise viewers with this newest collection of works aimed at deconstructing conventional realism and reassembling it with layers of context and meaning.

All of the participating artists have been actively showing in galleries around the Bay Area and abroad, bringing worldly impressions from Ireland, South Africa, Taiwan and more. Explore their imagination and experience their influences through dramatic images and compelling landscapes in the paintings displayed in “Reckoning”. For more information, visit www.1AMSF.com.
